WHAT ADVANTAGES DOES CEREC OFFER ME?

The greatest advantage is the ability to perform the restoration in a single session, with no need for temporaries or bulky impressions.

Secondly, the restoration has a very natural look because it is made of tooth-coloured ceramic material.  It is metal free which means there are no silver fillings to discolor your smile!  The ceramic material is compatible with the tissue’s in your mouth and is high grade, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

Finally CEREC allows us to be extremely precise and save more of the healthy part of your tooth.

CERAMIC RECONSTRUCTION STEP BY STEP.

PREPARATION: First we prepare the damaged tooth taking away all the decay and destroyed tooth (similar to traditional treatment methods).  Your prepared tooth will then be coated with a thin layer of  safe and tasteless reflective powder.

DIGITAL IMPRESSION: CEREC then uses a state-of-the-art digital 3D camera to create a pin-sharp optical impression.  This is in replacement of the traditional physical impression, no longer do you have to wait while a tray of impression goop hardens in your mouth.

COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN (CAD): State-of-the-art CAD technology helps us design every precise detail of the restoration from the optical impression.  The software allows us to customize the shape of the restoration to exactly fit your specific clinical needs.  You can actually watch us design your new restoration on a full-colour computer monitor right before your eyes!

MILL AND PLACE: Then while you wait, exact design specifications are sent to our on-site milling machine, CEREC then creates and extremely precise restoration.  A high-speed diamond bur and a disk work simultaneously to mill the restoration out of a solid block of ceramic material.  About 15 minutes later, your all-ceramic, colour-matched restoration is ready for placement.  Finally, your new restoration is then fitted, polished and bonded for permanence.  Your tooth is restored back to its natural form, function and beauty.
